Kootenay Local Agricultural Society was founded with the belief in a localized food system no matter the size or scale. Over the years, the farmer volunteered society has gone through many changes including educational development, research, certification programs and equipment rentals to help assist growers in the Central Kootenays.
What has remained has been the Tool Library of small equipment for growers and gardeners to utilize. Unfortunately the equipment has started to show its age and is often down for repairs, which has impacted services. In order to properly serve the community, the equipment must be safe and operational before being allowed to rent out. The equipment is worked on by Tool Guardians who volunteer their time to try to keep the fleet in order.
Equipment rentals are available to members who are in good standing and have paid their annual fees. Rental rates are dependant based on the individual equipment and the number of days rented. See below for a list of current rental rates.
Currently, the majority of equipment is being housed in Creston and Krestova which serve as the library rental hubs. To request a rental, please email [email protected].
